Executive Director: Puppet Showplace Theatre
Description:
The Puppet Showplace Theatre seeks an energetic and passionate Executive Director to lead the organization in fulfilling and expanding the theatre’s mission to present the magical world of puppet theatre to audiences of all ages. The ideal candidate is an experienced administrator with knowledge of small business operations, staff management, non-profit fundraising, and community outreach/board development. The Executive Director would work collaboratively with the theatre’s small but extremely dedicated staff and board to cultivate and implement the organization’s strategic plan and vision while managing operations in a meticulous and professional manner.
Qualifications:
-College degree required; degree in arts administration, business or related field preferred
-At least 3 years experience in an executive or managerial role.
-Experience with grant writing and managing successful fundraising campaigns
-Demonstrated experience with budget management and financial accounting
-Exceptional professional communication skills; comfort and professionalism interacting with diverse stakeholders (parents and children, school administrators, donors, community partners, other cultural executives).
-Knowledge and appreciation of non-profit performing arts and family entertainment sector; enthusiasm for working with young audiences.
- Comfort with administrative technology including OvationTix, QuickBooks, Filemaker, or equivalent programs
Time Commitment
Full-time exempt, approximately 40 hours a week
Flexible schedule
Additional hours as necessary for special events, including some evenings and weekends.
Compensation
Salary of $38,000 to $42,000 per year.

About the Organization:
Puppet Showplace Theatre is New England’s only dedicated year-round presenter of puppetry arts. Founded in 1974 by visionary educator and puppeteer Mary Churchill, the theatre now welcomes over 25,000 patrons to its 100-seat Brookline Village location every season. In addition to “mainstage” shows for youth and family audiences, the theatre also presents adult puppet slams, offers classes and workshops to students of all ages, and consults on professional puppetry productions throughout the region.
