Casting for a puppeteer in NY, and a set designer

Hello puppeteers,

I’m currently casting for an older male puppeteer who can sing. The piece is a very silly musical comedy which will be performed at FringeNYC this August.

I’m also seeking other singing actors of all types AND a set designer (if any happen to lurk here!), but this individual would be the only puppeteer.

The ideal actor would be at least in his 40s but able to play much older (the character is about 65, so the older the actor, the better!). His role requires a lot of nuanced acting ability in that he has to play both the puppet and himself onstage – and the two are locked in battle!

Please contact me at thesnarkascending@gmail.com or aislesixmusical@gmail.com for more information. Thank you!

Gia Wallace puppets. Amazing! Will sell to good home.

Hello Puppet collectors and enthusiasts!

I have had three stunning puppets in my possession many years, a gift from my father.

Recently they were found in the basement and sadly some moisture damage had occurred.

While I was cleaning up these beautiful pieces I discovered the label and numbers. I promptly googled the maker and was so excited to learn about Gia Wallace and her sister! I never would have found the info if this had not occurred. Happy accident.

The puppets will need some restoration to their costumes. I would consider selling them to the right home and to someone who could care and repair them properly.

Thanks so much for any info you may provide. I do not know much about puppets only have loved and enjoyed these for many years. So fun to learn of Lea and Gia and sad timing to hear of Lea’s recent passing.

Puppet Music Video

My associates and I just released a music video for a talented musician named That 1 Guy. Modern Man took three years to build, film, and edit. Our star is a 7ft tall, 4 person operated, remote controlled animatronic astronaut named Ovid.

Filming on weekends, building for each shoot after we got off our day jobs, which normally took us into the late hours of the night. We created almost 95% of everything you see on screen by hand, everything we could build and shoot we did, even down to colored oil in water for our gas giant planet.

We are only asking to please take a few minutes of your time to watch the video which we worked so hard to create. We hope you enjoy our video, thank you.

Edward Gorey’s Puppetry in Chicago!

For those familiar with the talented puppetry work of author/illustrator Edward Gorey, ’nuff said. But for the rest of us…here’s a chance to create something entirely new!

Beginning in February 2014, the Loyola University Museum of Art (right on Michigan Avenue in the heart of it all) is presenting: Elegant Enigmas:The Work of Edward Gorey. LUMA would like  to include in the companion programming  a puppet show of one of Gorey’s plays.

Contact Ms..Pamela Ambrose Director of Cultural Affairs, Loyola University Chicago 312.915.7630 or pambros@luc.edu

CPG knows of no one in the Midwest doing any Gorey-themed work, so we’re posting this on behalf of Ms. Ambrose and LUMA to ask around and invite inquiries.

Mozart Opera

To whom it may concern…

I am a undergraduate performance student studying violin at the Hayes School of Music of Appalachian State University in North Carolina. Our opera studio did a production of W.A. Mozart’s opera Bastien und Bastienne this past semester, and those of us in the pit orchestra had the idea of creating and performing a version of the opera with puppets. There would be a reduced pit orchestra (all members of the Appalachian State Symphony) to perform with the puppeteer(s).Our orchestra director Dr. Chung Park is very enthusiastic about this idea and would like to take it on the road as a way of introducing kids to classical music and the performing arts. If you are interested, please contact me via Email. Cheers!

Sincerely, Alex T.

Does anyone know of the whereabouts where I can find a Puppeteer in Las Vegas?

Hello,

My name is Beverly Gonzalez and I’m the Founder and CEO of Meals On A Mission, The fundraiser changing the world, one bite at a time!  :)

I’m ever so pleased to have been directed to this amazing website. I had no idea that there was a following of puppet loving people and professionals. You guys rock! Puppets rock!

With that being said, I’m seeking help from someone out there that may know of someone in Las Vegas that would be interested in doing a video with me.

Details as follows:

  • Professional Video Production Studio at World of Life Chrisitan Center.
  • Two hours paid time at $25 an hour.
  • I will provide skit
  • I am seeking someone that can pull off a cute ITALIAN MALE voice.
  • I will provide the puppet (professionally made) – his name is Chef Pepe Roni (he is a chef hat…with a cute mustache) :)
  • The time will be announced 2 weeks prior to the date. I will have final confirmation at the end of April.
  • The video will be a pre-launch to our crowdfunding seeding campaign, as we are a start-up company.  I have worked hard for two long years to deliver this to the world, and one lucky puppeteer gets to help make this a historically successful crowdfunding campaign that no one will forget!
  • I will have an animated explainer video for those who are interested, but it won’t be available until the end of April.

I’m sure someone…knows someone…who knows someone…that could help.

Ill return back and update this post with the video link once it’s completed for those who wish to check back and view more.

Blessings to all you awesomely crazy folks who understand that the key to life is imagination!!!

Puppeteer interviewees needed for Research

I am looking for Puppeteers that would be interested in being interviewed for research I am conducting. I am creating an exercise manual designed for Puppeteers and would love to identify what physical issues and challenges Puppeteers face. I hope to identify exercises, tools and techniques that can help them develop more dexterity, diminish chronic pain and increased strength and endurance which would empower Puppeteers with the capacity to practice their art for as long as they wish and not be limited by physical constraints.
Please contact me ASAP to arrange a day and time. Food & drink will be provided.
Thank you so much and look forward to chatting with you soon!

The Shadow Circus show: Screening in San Francisco

Shadow Circus Creature Theatre, San Francisco’s most belligerent puppetry troupe, embark on a new medium as they debut the pilot episode of their new series of web films; ‘The Shadow Circus Show.’ After a decade of entertaining the Bay Area with their live puppet-hosted variety show, their regular appearances on KOFY TV’s Creepy KOFY Movie Time and their yearly puppet contributions to the stage show of the esteemed Edwardian Ball, Shadow Circus is now bringing their madcap humor and bizarre monsters to the screen.

The pilot episode, which will be have a public screening at the Cinecave Screening Room at Lost Weekend Video, follows a dreadlocked dragon-like reptile named Syrus, his new-age Gelfling-esque girlfriend Wycker and a menagerie of bizarre and outlandish creatures as they attempt to run a beatnik café in the Northbeach District of San Francisco. Also starring in the film are local favorites Kitten on the Keys (winner of a 2003 SF Weekly Music award) and Victoria Victrola.

And just added: Opening up the evening’s adventures will be the Ukulele styling of Brandi Hasbrouck!

‘The Shadow Circus Show’ screens on April 14th. Doors are at 7:30, film starts at 8. All ages are welcome. Requested donation of $6, but nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. Lost Weekend video is located at 1034 Valencia Street, San Francisco. For additional information, go to www.shadowcircus.com.
