Dapsone is used for curing leprosy. It can be used in combination with other medications. It is also used to cure dermatitis herpetiformis (extremely itchy groups of skin lesions, usually occurring on the elbows, knees, and scalp). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your physician.
Take Dapsone as ordered by your physician. Take Dapsone on an empty stomach. If stomach upset occurs, you may take it with meal to reduce stomach irritation. If you also take didanosine, don't take it within 2 hours before or after using Dapsone. To clear up your infection completely, take Dapsone for the full course of medication. Keep using it even if you feel better in several days. This product works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
Dapsone may cause blurred vision. Use Dapsone with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, call your doctor. This pill should be used only by the patient for whom it has been recommended. Don't take less or more or take it more often than directed by your physician.
