Drug Uses
Dapsone is used for curing leprosy. It can be used in combination with other medications. It is also used to treat dermatitis herpetiformis (extremely itchy groups of skin lesions, regularly occurring on the elbows, knees, and scalp). It can also be used for other conditions as determined by your physician.
How Taken
Use Dapsone as ordered by your doctor. Use Dapsone on an empty stomach. If stomach upset occurs, you can take it with food to reduce stomach irritation. If you also take didanosine, don't take it within 2 hours before or after taking Dapsone. To clear up your infection absolutely, take Dapsone for the full course of curing. Keep using it even if you feel better in several days. This pill works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
Additional Information
Dapsone may cause blurred vision. Use Dapsone with caution. Don't drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, visit your doctor. This pill should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than recommended by your doctor.
