Crestor is used to control the level of cholesterol and blood pressure in people with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia. Crestor is only effective when used along with certain diet.
Crestor comes in pills to be taken by mouth with or without food. Usual dose is 10mg - 40mg once a day.
You may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment or you may not be able to take this product at all if you have kidney or liver infection or if you have gastrointestinal problems. This product interact with the following products- phenytoin (Dilantin); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); tolbutamide (Orinase); torsemide (Demadex); fluvastatin (Lescol); a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, ardeparin (Normiflo), dalteparin (Fragmin), danaparoid (Orgaran), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep); (Activase), anistreplase (Eminase), dipyridamole (Persantine), streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase), ticlopidine (Ticlid), and urokinase (Abbokinase). People taking the above mentioned medicines should talk to a physician concerning the dosage and possibility of Crestor usage.
