Accutane is a retinoid and is used to cure severe acne in people who do not respond to other medicines. It can also be used in other situations as prescribed by your physician.
Accutane comes in capsules taken with a full glass of water and with a meal. Don't break, crush, chew, or suck on the capsule before swallowing. For best results, you should take this product regularly.
Accutane may cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you respond to this drug. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for prolonged time. Certain birth control pills (progestin-only pills, "mini pills") that do not contain estrogen may not be as effective while you are taking Accutane. Worsening of acne may occur during the first part of therapy. This doesn`t suggest failure or a need to stop the pill.
