Bean&Bear and Kevin all believe that it’s only trash if you throw it away! When the supplies box becomes the recycling bin, it can be so fun to make things out of stuff with friends! Through creative play, collaboration, improvised construction, and even musical puppet parades, we’ll shed the burden of our own artist perfectionism. Our goal is simply to make things, free of expectations. It’s an opportunity to explore individual and collective creation using found materials that would otherwise be discarded. We will also make friends!
Atlanta based artists Bean&Bear have performed and played together for the better part of 8 years. Their collective body of work and education is based in improvisation, movement, clown, puppetry, magic, and storytelling. Qate Bean is also a teaching artist of nearly 11 years and enjoys working for the Center for Puppetry Arts in the education department, the puppet building shop, and as a puppeteer.
Kevin loves to perform, write, draw, sing, make things, and wonder about possibilities. He is an award-winning artist, performer, and children’s author of many books and CDs who loves to collaborate with other artists. Each year, he visits schools, libraries, festivals, and conferences to inspire active imaginations through poetry, puppetry, music, and movement. He and his family live in Grand Rapids, MI. Bean&Bear and Kevin are thrilled to team up in this completely free and playfully collaborative workshop!
