  Southwest Regional HOT (Heart of Texas) Puppet Festival

  October 2-3, 2026

  Calling on all puppetry enthusiasts to save the first weekend in October 2026 for Hot Puppets, a Southwest Regional Festival to be held at the Sawyer Yards artist complex in Houston. Get ready for several exciting puppet shows, workshops, and parties!

  The festival will begin at 5:30 pm on October 2. Participants will meet at Puppet Pizzazz, owned and operated by Greg Ruhe. Attendees will sign in and get name tags while enjoying beverages and appetizers, and puppetry entertainment. The participants will follow a parade of giant puppets to the Sawyer Yards Art Complex for the first puppet show. After the puppet show, participants will return to Puppet Pizzazz for a party including dinner and puppetry entertainment.

  The following day Saturday, October 3 will run from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm at Sawyer Yards Arts Complex. The day will include morning coffee and pastries, lunch, three workshop sessions and two puppetry shows and a puppetry store. The group will meet up again at Puppetry Pizzazz for another party including a dinner and puppetry entertainment.
